Position Title: Child Protection (CP) Case Management Assistant

Number of Positions: 3 (One each for Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza LGAs)
Location: Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza LGAs, Borno State
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 10 months
Reporting to: Protection Officer
Start Date: As soon as possible

1. Background

FRAD Foundation is implementing a humanitarian project to support vulnerable children and families in Borno State. A key component of this project is child protection (CP) case management, ensuring children at risk or survivors of abuse, neglect, or exploitation receive timely, safe, and confidential support.

The project focuses on:

  • Providing case management for children at risk, including psychosocial support, family tracing, and referrals
  • Raising awareness in communities on child protection, rights, and safeguarding
  • Strengthening linkages with local authorities, health services, schools, and psychosocial support actors

To achieve these objectives, FRAD Foundation seeks dedicated and experienced CP Case Management Assistants to provide frontline support to children, engage communities, and assist protection teams in the targeted LGAs.

2. Purpose of the Position

The CP Case Management Assistant will deliver quality child protection case management services, ensure adherence to child safeguarding and protection standards, and strengthen community-based support mechanisms for children. The CP Case Management Assistant will work closely with the Protection Officer to implement project activities in line with organizational policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Case Management & Child Support

  • Provide direct support to children at risk or survivors of abuse, exploitation, or neglect, including psychosocial first aid, family tracing, and referrals.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate case records.
  • Conduct needs assessments and support individualized care plans for children.
  • Ensure safe and ethical handling of sensitive information.

B. Community Engagement & Child Protection Awareness

  • Conduct community awareness and sensitization sessions on child protection, child rights, and safeguarding.
  • Work with community structures, schools, youth, and parent groups to identify vulnerable children.
  • Promote referral pathways for health, education, psychosocial, and livelihood services for children and families.

C. Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with local authorities, child protection committees, schools, healthcare providers, and other humanitarian actors.
  • Participate in child protection coordination meetings and cluster discussions.
  • Support integration of child protection standards and safeguarding into all project activities.

D. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate case files and document trends, issues, and outcomes related to children.
  • Support the preparation of weekly and monthly activity reports for internal and donor use.
  • Contribute to lessons learned, best practices, and case study documentation.

E. Capacity Building

  • Support training and mentoring of community volunteers or staff on child protection case management.
  • Promote awareness of child safeguarding and protection principles among project teams and partners.

4. Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in child protection or case management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Proven experience working with vulnerable children and at-risk families.
  • Experience using CPIMS+ or similar child protection case management databases.
  • Knowledge of local context, culture, and challenges in Bama, Ngala, or Gwoza LGAs.
  • Strong understanding of child protection standards, safeguarding, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in challenging and remote environments.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Northeast Nigeria.
  • Familiarity with referral systems for health, education, psychosocial, and protection services.
  • Knowledge of gender inclusion, protection mainstreaming, and community-based child protection mechanisms.
