Position Title: GBV/Case Management Assistant

Number of Positions: 3 (Female – one each for Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza LGAs)
Location: Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza LGAs, Borno State
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 10 months
Reporting to: Protection Officer
Start Date: As soon as possible

1. Background

FRAD Foundation is implementing a humanitarian project aimed at supporting vulnerable populations in Borno State. A key component of this project is protection and GBV response, ensuring survivors receive timely, safe, and confidential support.

The project emphasizes:

  • Case management for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
  • Community sensitization on GBV prevention and response
  • Strengthening linkages with local authorities, healthcare providers, legal and Mental Health and psychosocial support services

To ensure effective implementation, FRAD Foundation seeks experienced and motivated GBV/Case Management Assistant to provide frontline support to survivors, engage communities, and support protection teams across targeted LGAs.

2. Purpose of the Position

The GBV/Case Management Assistant will deliver quality case management services, ensure protection standards are maintained, and strengthen community-based support for survivors. The officer will work closely with the Protection Officer to implement project activities in alignment with organizational policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards.

3. Key Responsibilities

A. Case Management & Survivor Support

  • Provide direct support to GBV survivors, including psychological first aid, referrals, and follow-up in line with case management protocols.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate case documentation.
  • Conduct needs assessments and support individualized care planning.
  • Ensure safe and ethical handling of sensitive information.

B. Community Engagement & GBV Prevention

  • Conduct community sensitization on GBV, protection, and available support services.
  • Work with community structures, women and youth groups to identify vulnerable individuals.
  • Promote referral pathways for health, legal, psychosocial, and livelihood services.

C. Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with local authorities, healthcare providers, psychosocial support teams, and other humanitarian actors.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and protection clusters as required.
  • Support integration of GBV mainstreaming into all program activities.

D. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate case files and report on caseloads, trends, and protection issues.
  • Support the preparation of weekly and monthly activity reports for internal and donor use.
  • Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and best practices.

E. Capacity Building

  • Support training and mentoring of community volunteers or staff on case management and GBV response.
  • Promote awareness of protection principles among project teams and partners.

4. Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in case management, preferably in GBV programming.
  • Proven experience working with survivors of GBV in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Knowledge of local context, culture, and challenges in Bama, Ngala, or Gwoza LGAs.
  • Strong understanding of protection standards, ethical considerations, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in challenging environments.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Northeast Nigeria.
  • Familiarity with referral systems for health, legal, and psychosocial services.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, and gender inclusion.
